Clean sweep for BJP in Biswanath district panchayat election

Biswanath Chariali: The ruling BJP swept the panchayat election in Biswanath district, including Biswanath Sadar and Gohpur subdivisions. The BJP won all the 13 Zila Parishad seats in the district while out of 76 Gaon Panchayat president seats, BJP won 71 seats, Congress 3 and BPF 1. On the other hand, out of 76 Anchalik Panchayat member seats, BJP won 70, Congress 4 and others 1. Among 760 Gaon Panchayat member seats, BJP won 612, Congress 112, BPF 14, AGP 6 and others 5. Recounting has been sought for No 1 Chatiya Gaon Panchayat.
