Clear forest royalty by October 30: Pramila Rani

'Government has set a target of Rs 1,000-crore revenue collection from Forest Department'

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Sept 9: State Forest and Environment Minister Pramila Rani Brahma on Friday ordered all government departments to pay royalty against using forest resources within October 30 this year.

Brahma issued this order in a meeting held at Golaghat circuit house here with the officials of various government departments like PWD, Soil Conservation, Panchayat and Rural Development and Irrigation.

She directed all officials to submit detail report of using forest resources and clear its royalty for last five years for implementing various government schemes in the district.

Minister Brahma said that Government has set target of Rs 1000 crore revenue from the forest department, so all government departments have to cooperate to fulfill the target.

She said that a vigilance committee will be formed under leadership of Deputy Commissioner to monitor the uses of forest resources and maintain the relation between forest and other departments who uses the forest resources.

Earlier, she launched a plantation drive at Sisupani area under Gomariguri development block. She distributed more than five thousand Ogar saplings. Chief Conservator of Forest Daresh Mathur, Additiol Chief Conservator of Forest SK Sribastav and other forest officials were also present in the programme.
