CM flags off MTB Tawang Challenge Cycling Competition

 GUWAHATI, Oct 23: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Monday flagged off MTB Tawang Challenge Cycling Competition which is being organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Aruchal Pradesh synchronizing with the forthcoming Tawang Festival, 2017.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal expressed the view that the cycling competition would help in promoting the tourism potential of Aruchal Pradesh and the North- Eastern region. He also said that Prime Minister rendra Modi aims at giving a new boost to the growth of north east through implementation of the Act East Policy and all the north eastern states must join hands with the Central Government for fulfilling his cherished vision.
“The initiative of the Aruchal Pradesh Government to organize the Tawang Challenge cycling competition to promote the Tawang Festival is very praiseworthy. This will definitely help in giving a new dimension to tourism of the state as well as the entire north eastern region. Our Prime Minister rendra Modi ji also envisions stimulating the growth of the region through implementation of the Act East Policy. All the north eastern states must put joint efforts to make the endeavour successful”, Sonowal said.
The Chief Minister further mentioned that the cycling event would also strengthen brotherhood amongst all the north eastern states. He also conveyed his goodwill to all the participating cyclists for success of their journey.
Noteworthy that several cyclists from all over the country have taken part in the MTB Tawang Challenge, which will cover 500 KM difficult terrain during its tour. The competition will culmite on 28 th October after six days journey and passing through hilly tracts located at 13,700 feet above sea level. This is stated in a press release.
