CM Sarbananda Sonowal visits Bogibeel Bridge

Dibrugarh: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday visited the Bogibeel Bridge to take stock of the progress of completion work and review the preparations for the inaugural programme of the bridge by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 25.

Sonowal inspected both the ends of the bridge, and then held a meeting with the senior officials of the departments concerned, senior railway officials and DCs of Dibrugarh and Dhemaji districts. He said that Prime Minister Modi is going to dedicate this important bridge of Northeast to the nation on the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25.

The Chief Minister directed the officials and departments concerned for taking all necessary steps to ensure a glitch-free inaugural programme which will be attended by the people of the districts of north and south banks along with Arunachal Pradesh.

Sonowal said that Bogibeel Bridge would be able to bring revolutionary change to the north and south bank road and rail connectivity and the bridge would fulfil the long felt communication needs of people of both the banks. This bridge would not only contribute in Assam’s progress but will also play a big role in the economic resurgence of the entire region, he opined.

Sonowal was accompanied by Minister of State (Independent) for Power Tapan Gogoi, MLAs Prashanta Phukan, Rituparna Barua, Bhuban Pegu, Dr Ranoj Pegu, Teros Gowala, Commissioner and Secretary of Transport Department Ashutosh Agnihotri along with top officials of Railway Department.
