Shillong, Nov 29: Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma on Wednesday visited Lum Swai, the site for public worship during the annual meeting of the KJP Synod Mihngi 2018 to be held at Tynring in March 2018.

Speaking at a reception meeting at Tynring Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, the Chief Minister expressed his happiness at having got the opportunity to review the interventions from the government side to eble Tynring to host the large congregation. He also informed the audience that officials from various line departments are working to maintaining time lines. He said with these interventions from the government for the KJP Synod 2018 there are other collateral benefits which the area can take advantage of.

Expressing happiness at the venue site for the Synod, Sangma said the venue in itself is extraordiry with a beautiful tural landscape.

“Shillong is faced with the challenge of having an open space where a large gathering can take place,” he said. “The Shnong of Tynring can plan to have an infrastructure that can eble the place to host a large congregation or gathering in the years to come,” he suggested while assuring assistance and support from the government. Earlier, officials from PHE, PWD (Roads) and MeECL also briefed the gathering on the interventions and the works taken by the departments and the progress in preparation for the forthcoming Synod meeting. Also present during the inspection were Mawryngkneng MLA David Nongrum and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar. Pastors from KJP Synod Mihngni, Laithumkhrah Presbytery and members of Dorbar Shnong, Tynring were also present on the occasion.
