ITAGAR, Sept 20: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has taken strong exception to the report of students locking up their college in protest against alleged collection of exorbitant fees by the authorities.

According to report the students of Aruchal Community College (ACC) here locked up the entire college premises on Monday protesting against the college authority for allegedly charging Rs 400 as stipend processing fees. They claimed that only Rs 20 is being collected from students by other colleges for the same purpose.

Taking cognizance of grave situation, Khandu today wrote to the Education Minister to immediately enquire into the matter and take appropriate action that may be intimated to his office, an official communiqué informed.

"The matter appears to be very serious in ture and requires immediate Government intervention. I request Hon'ble Minister Education to enquire into the matter and take appropriate steps to address the issue," Khandu wrote.

The chief minister also expressed serious concern over the claims made by the students that the college authorities were not heeding to their genuine demand for basic facilities in the college premises. The Aruchal Community College is a private college affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University, the communiqué added.
