From a Correspondent

MARGHERITA, November 16: Chaatra Mukti Sangram Samity (CMSS), Tinsukia district committee, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently at Digboi.

Lakhya Jyoti Gogoi and Pappu Dutta, both president and secretary of Chaatra Mukti Sangram Samity,Tinsukia District committee said that a Margherita College degree student  was brutally raped and murdered on August 29 by three suspected tiols at Kamba Gaon under Ledo Police outpost, Margherita subdivision.

Now after 78 days of that brutal incident no forensic report had come from Guwahati and Kolkata and for this reason the police had not been able to submit the charge sheet and case diary, alleged Lakhya Jyoti Gogoi. “The brutal incident happened because there is no bridge at Kamba Gaon over the Tirap River and we local residents of this area have several times approached the authorities concerned to construct a permanent bridge but all in vain,” said Madkham Tikhak, the elder brother of the victim who was also present during the submission of the memorandum to the Chief Minister.

Lakhya Jyoti Gogoi said, “We have submitted the memorandum with five demands. We demand that the forensic report should be submitted soon and the judgment be done through fast track court, the victim’s family should get fincial assistance, a permanent bridge should be built over the Tirap River to connect  Ledo and Kamba Gaon, in Tinsukia district there are many factories and contractor firms which should properly verify the details of the people they employ and CCTVs should be installed in Margherita region. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi assured us in the presence of Tinsukia district Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner that the guilty will be punished.”
