Coal laden trucks detained at Byrnihat

SHILLONG, May 22: The police on May 20, at around 9.30pm detained two coal laden trucks (ML-10B-6017 & AS-01-GC-7073) at Byrnihat (RB) for evading a weighbridge at Shangbangla (RB). The matter is under enquiry.

In another incident, on May 18, around 1.20 pm, one Tata Sumo (ML-08B-1786) knocked down one minor boy namely, Salgrik M Sangma at Gimbilgrein South West Garo Hills (SWGH).

The police informed that the victim had sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Tura for treatment. The police also said that the matter is under enquiry. On the same day, at around 11.40 am, residents of Torikokona village under Bajengdoba PS North Garo Hills (NGH) apprehended three juveniles (aged 15 / 17 year) along with one stolen scooty. Later, they were handed over to Police at Bajengdoba PS for necessary action. In this connection the police informed that the matter is under investigation. Meanwhile, on May 17, police detected six trucks (AS-18-9027, ML-07A-6050, ML-09A-3131, AS-19C-3466, NL-01G-0584 & AS-19C-5141) driven by Sahidur Islam, Asraful Islam, Shaminur Islam, Rafikull Islam, Abdul Rahim and Abdul Malik respectively, while transporting coal in violation of NGT order at NH-44E, Songsak Forest Reserve East Garo Hills. In this regard, the police informed that they have detained all the trucks.
