Coal laden trucks seized, drivers held

SHILLONG, Aug 17: Meghalaya police arrested several persons including a driver of Fire & Emergency Service, Nongpoh, for illegally transporting and facilitating transportation of coal. According to police, on Tuesday night police intercepted one Bolero (ML-06-5600) and arrested Kenny Syngkli (26) and Franky Marwein (28), constable of Fire & Emergency Service, Nongpoh, who were illegally facilitating transportation of coal. During vehicle checking police at Umroi in Ri-Bhoi district also seized one coal laden truck (AS-01DD-4885) and arrested the driver and helper of the truck - Kel Dkhar (19) and (2) Prem Dkhar (19), respectively for violating the tiol Green Tribul (NGT) order. Meanwhile, in East Jaintia Hills district, on Tuesday at around 11:30 pm, police seized three coal laden trucks - ML-04A-6075, driven by Iomiki War, AS-01C-1675, driven by Peitlang Phawa and ML-04-9448 at Byndihati for transporting coal allegedly belonging to one lady-Vero Rymbai.  Police arrested the drivers while driver of truck No. ML-04-9448 mangled to escape.
