Coin Mela at Jowai on December 12

SHILLONG, Dec 6: To ease the effects of demonetization, the office of the Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with SBI and UBI is going to organize a ‘Coin Mela’ on the market day in Jowai on the December 12 at DC office from 10am. Anybody who needs change of Rs 10, Rs 5, Rs 2 and Re 1 can obtain from the counters set up on that day by giving new denomition of Rs 500, Rs 2000 and old denomition of Rs 100. RBI gives the coins in a pouch of 2000 Rs value. It will to be sorted out in smaller pouches of 100 Rs value. So the minimum a customer can exchange is 100 Rs. Limited numbers of lower denomition notes like Rs 50, Rs 20 and Rs 10 will also be kept, but they will be rationed per person depending on the need. However, there is no restriction on coins.
