mrup, Nov 19: The commissioning of mrup Replacement Power Project, Phase I, which is scheduled to be commissioned in the first week of December this year has become uncertain due to some major technical defects in the newly-installed turbine. A press meet was held by Assam Stare Power Workers’ Union, mrup on Saturday. Brojen Bori, union leader, demanded immediate replacement of damaged machinery by the company. He further added that too much dependency on fully automated system without engaging minimum manpower had led to such major incidents. Kulo th Gogoi, adviser, ASPWU said, “Where Assam only produces 218 MW of its required 1400 MW, delay in the commissioning of NRPP -1 , which was to be completed in 2012, has led to loss of 100 MW electricity by the State from December and this is a matter of serious concern.”
