Committee against sexual harassment formed at DHSK Commerce College

Dibrugarh, September 30: A committee against sexual harassment med as Gender Sensitization Committee against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) was recently formed here at DHSK Commerce College.  

The meeting was presided over by the Principal, Dr KM Bhagawati who formally announced the formation of the committee in the presence of faculty members and students of the college.  The meeting was also attended by Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, Dr. Madhumita Purkayastha, Senior Advocate, Dibrugarh Bar Association, Dr. zra Ahmed and social activist Anju Borkotoky.

The welcome address of the meeting was delivered by Assistant Professor, Department of Accountancy, Jecob Konwar while the objectives of the meeting was laid down by Assistant Professor Department of Economics, Anita Baruwa.

A policy against sexual harassment was declared in the meeting which was adopted to guide the committee in its working policies by releasing the draft rules and procedures of GSCASH.  The committee on GSCASH was formed keeping in mind the Apex Court’s guidelines on sexual harassment at workplace.

To mark the occasion, the college authorities in association with its Interl Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a symposium on ‘The Role of Gender Sensitization Committees against Sexual Harassments (GSCASH) in Institutions of Higher Education’. Later Dr. Madhumita Purkayastha delivered a talk on the issue which was followed by an interactive session with the faculty and students.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Mamoni Hazarika.
