Congenial atmosphere vital for children: HC CJ

SHILLONG, July 7: The Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir said that there is a need to ensure that a congenial atmosphere is provided to the children so that they can improve upon themselves and come back to the mainstream and be the future of our nation

The Chief Justice was speaking at the commissioning of the Juvenile Homes cum Sensitization Programme on the Juvenile Justice Act organized by the High Court of Meghalaya in collaboration with Social Welfare Department at Mawkasiang (Mawdiangdiang), New Shillong today.

“We are to ensure that a congenial atmosphere is provided to the children so that they can improve upon themselves and come back to the mainstream and be the future of our nation,” he said.

Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir also urged upon the public to become responsible citizens and extend all possible assistance to those who are in need of care and protection.

Earlier, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya in-charge of Social Welfare Department, H Marwein read out the brief history of the juvenile home.

Mawsynram MLA, HM Shangpliang, Judge & Chairman of Juvenile Justice Committee, High Court of Meghalaya, Justice SR Sen, Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Y Tsering, Director General of Police, Meghalaya, SB Singh, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Social Welfare Department, T Dkhar were among others present at the function.
