Congress bigwigs launch full throttle attack on BJP

From a Correspondent

JORHAT, Oct 4: “This is just a trailer, the whole film in the run-up to the 2016 State assembly elections is yet to be seen by the people of Assam in which the hero of Assamese politics, our Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will play the main part,” said State Forest Minister Etuwa Munda after a successful meeting of the Congress party in the presence of more than 30,000 Congress party workers in the jam-packed Titabor Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex on Sunday.

State PWD Minister Ajanta Neog. Agriculture Minister Rockybul Hussain, Jorhat MLA Ra Goswami, Mariani MLA Rup Jyoti Kurmi, former MP Deep Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner Solanki Vishal Vasant, besides a host of other dignitaries were present.

Addressing the crowd, State Agriculture Minister Rockybul Hussain said, “Time has come for us to do calculations about what the Congress government gave to the people in the last three terms. Today I am here not to lecture but have a one-to-one interaction. I want each one of you to ponder what I have said which will help the people to take a wise decision in the next elections.  The Chief Minister who represents the Titabor constituency, has been elected for three terms, that is 2001, 2006 and 2011, with the help of your valuable votes. In the last three terms the Chief Minister has successfully solved most of the problems of the State, though we admit that some sectors still need to be seriously looked upon.”

The Minister further said, “Acche Din as promised by rendra Modi before the elections is yet to reach the people. The promise of providing money to the poor people has boomeranged. Has  anyone who has opened account under the Prime Minister’s special programme Dhan Jan Yozo received a single penny till date? As such a systematic propaganda against the Congress government was launched alleging the Congress government of indulging in large-scale corruption. The BJP asked for 100 days of governce to root-out corruption and provide each family with Rs 15 lakh. Now that 365 days have passed, has anyone got even Rs 1 lakh ? What happened to the promise of driving out illegal immigrants from Assam? Those were mere fake promises designed to fool the people just before the elections. Today I declare that we will again help Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to win the 2016 elections by more than 1.5 lakh votes and once again he will become the Chief Minister of Assam for the fourth consecutive term.”

Earlier Jorhat MLA Ra Goswami said, “Today, the Chief Minister wanted to see how much love the people of Titabor have towards him and hence decided to stay away from the programme.  But the massive presence has undoubtedly given the answer and this must be understood by all those who keep doing complex equations. If Tarun Gogoi hadn’t been the Chief Minister, Titabor would have never been declared as a sub-division. People must remember the big pot holes of the Titabor connecting Jorhat road of both -Ali and Gar-Ali. People had to travel via Mariani to reach Jorhat and Titabor to avoid the bumpy road. But under Tarun Gogoi’s leadership the roads were rebuilt, thus helping the people to travel at ease. rendra Modi promised to throw Bangladeshis out of Assam but the same rendra Modi after becoming the Prime Minister went and gave away Assam’s land to Bangladesh besides starting Indo-Bangla bus service from Guwahati. He asked for 60 months instead of 60 years promising Acche Din but today onion is priced at Rs 100 per kg and cereals at Rs 100 per kg. So where are the  Acche Din?

Towards the end of the programme, women beneficiaries of various block committees of Titabor subdivision were distributed free weaving threads, besides power tillers among SHG (Self Help Groups). The BJP also organized a public meeting a few hundred meters away from the Congress venue in Titabor on Sunday which was attended by senior party leaders. The BJP meet started an hour after the Congress beneficiary distribution meet had concluded.
