Congress candidate Mukul Sangma and many others file papers

SHILLONG: Congress candidate Mukul Sangma filed his nomination papers for the Tura Parliamentary seat on Monday. He arrived in the office of the Returning Officer along with many of his supporters.

Similarly, BJP candidate Rikman Momin also submitted his papers in Tura on Monday. Agatha K Sangma (NPP) was the first to file her nomination papers in that constituency on Friday last. The Tura seat is now poised to witness a three-cornered contest.

Meanwhile, Sayeedullah Nongrum (UDP), BJP candidate Adorsho Sangma and INC’s June Eliana R Marak (widow of late MLA Clement Marak) also filed their nomination papers for the Selsella byepolls on the last day on Monday.

F Airlene Ch Sangma of the NPP had filed her nominations on Friday. The bye-poll has been necessitated after the death of sitting MLA Clement Marak who had won the seat as a Congress nominee on two counts.
