Congress lashes out at NPP

Shillong, May 5: The Congress party has refused to accept the notion that its party nominee for the prestigious Tura by- election, Dikanshi D Shira as a ‘green horn’ in politics.

Dikanshi D Shira is the first time Congress legislator and wife of Meghalaya  Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, who has pitted against the tiolist People’s Party (NPP) President Conrad K Sangma, son of late Purno A Sangma.

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPPC) working president and Williamgar legislator Deborah Ch Marak told this correspondent, “Our candidate is not new to politics. Politics is already in her blood. ”

“It is said that that there is a woman behind every

successful man and there is no reason that this woman candidate will not succeed in this election,” Marak said referring to Chief Minister Sangma’s wife Dikanshi.

The MPCC working president also launched a scathing attack on the NPP saying that the rival party is fielding a candidate who has already been rejected by the voters of Selsella constituency on two occasions.

Expressing confidence of wining the Tura

Parliamentary seat, the Congress leader reiterated that the era of the PA Sangma is over.

“We will have a new beginning and this should be a starting point”, stated Marak even as she reiterated that her speech should not be read as ‘demeaning the legacy of the late Lok Sabha speaker.

The Congress leaders are on campaign spree in all the five districts of Garo hills.
