Congress MLA PT Sawkmie For Financial Aid To Storm Victims

SHILLONG: Congress MLA PT Sawkmie has sent a letter to the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya to provide aid to the family affected by the heavy rain and thunderstorm that lashed the State on Monday.

Sawkmie in the letter said, “As we are aware that the State has been affected by the thunderstorm and heavy rain in the past few days which has caused damaged property in parts of Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills and also Garo Hills.”

He urged the authority concern to take up the issue seriously by sanctioning relief money to all the affected families.

It may be mentioned that the BDOs from various blocks have done their job of assessing the damage caused by the storm.

In this regard, the supply of materials to the affected families has been appreciated.

“The most important thing is that the Government should extend financial assistance and support to the people in the region,” he said.
