Shillong: General secretary of the All India Congress committee (AICC) in-charge of the North East L Feilero admitted that the party is going through a difficult time and took a dig at the regional parties who are part of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).

Talking to newsperson in Shillong on Friday, Feleiro said, “Our party is going through difficult times but we will introspect, restructure and consolidate ourselves to counter the disturbing forces in the region”. Notwithstanding the drubbing in the just concluded parliamentary elections, the AICC leader however drew solace from the vote share of the party in the seven sister States. He narrated the percentage of the votes garnered by the party which he perceived as a resourceful strength to consolidate the Congress party in the days to come.

Though short of narratives in describing the re- structuring and re-orientation of the party set-up in the seven sister States, the AICC leader said, “We are going to deliberate on this in order to recharge ourselves to counter the mindless forces that will put the region under the sword”.

The AICC leader also took an indirect swipe at the constituents of NEDA by calling them as ‘sheer approvers’ to the ‘sinister legislation like the CAB.

“The NEDA is headed by Amit Shah, a known protagonist for the implementation of the CAB and other measures that deprived the Northeast of its benefits”, Feilero stated, even as he cautioned the regional parties to look beyond the short-term benefits of being part of the Central Government.
