Congress party Guwahati candidate Bobbeeta Sharma questions delay in water projects

Is it water mafia or water syndicate that hinders BJP government?

GUWAHATI: The Congress party Guwahati candidate, Bobbeeta Sharma while discussing the issue of the drinking water crisis in the city, mocked the question as to whether JICA water project remains incomplete under BJP governance due encumbrance of the water mafia or the water syndicate.

Addressing the press on Friday, Sharma informed that the JICA water project was introduced by the Congress party and was supposed to conclude in the year 2017. “Even with the change of government, the government projects remain to be a continuous process, so why wasn’t the JICA project completed? I suspect that it surely must be the work of the water mafia, which stands in the way of BJP completing the work. And since people have to buy water in the city to meet their daily needs, I suppose the water syndicate is posing problems?” she quizzed and asserted, “If I am elected, I will do my best to complete the project at the earliest.”

Recalling the BJP campaigns in the previous election, Sharma said, “The BJP party gave us a lot of assurances and since the people wanted change, they trusted the party and voted for them. But since the past five years, the BJP party has failed to fulfil any of their promises. A major promise made by the BJP was to make Assam illegal immigrants free (Bangladeshis will have to pack their bags and leave) but they have done the exact opposite by introducing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB).” Sharma asserted that the people of Assam wants the foreign citizens to be recognized and deported as per the rules of the Assam Accord but the BJP have only tried to bring in these foreigners. “BJP has already claimed that they will re-introduce CAB if voted to power once again. However, if the Congress party comes into power, the bill will be scraped.”

Sharma further clarified that the Congress party has no alliance or understanding with AIUDF. “The AIUDF party has never landed a helping hand and has only caused us trouble. It’s with the BJP party that they have a secret understanding”, she concluded.
