TINSUKIA, July 3: To protest against the deplorable condition of NH-37 between Tinsukia and Dibrugarh, an eight-hour sit-in was observed on Tuesday at Chabua by the Chabua Yuba Congress in association with Tinsukia Zila Yuba Congress. Led by APCC president Ripun Bora and senior leader Apurba Kumar Bhattacharyya, several hundred Congress activists joined the protest.

Giving the Chief Minister a wake-up call, Ripun Bora said that it was unfortunate that the Chief Minister had failed to keep any commitment he had made earlier. He even questioned the veracity of his claim in the name of development, let alone in his home constituency.

Apurba Kumar Bhattacharyya, while criticizing the Chief Minister, said that he completely overlooked the strategically important road between Dibrugarh and Dholla-Sadiya. Not a single stone chip was laid on NH-37 in Chabua which falls under his home constituency, Bhattacharyya pointed out.

Pulakesh Saikia, president of CYC and former Chabua MLA Raju Sahu also criticized the government.
