Agartala, June 4: Tripura Pradesh Congress has given a 12-hour Khoawai Bandh call on Monday to protest against the brutal killing of a young man Nikunja Barman by a group of motor workers in Khowai motor stand, only few hundred meters from the police station.
TPCC president Birajit Sinha said, "It is surprising that the police could not arrest single accused even after three days of the incident."
Sinha visited the family members of the victim. He
also met SP Jayanta Chakraborty in regard to the incident and demanded arrest of the accused within 48 hours.
Moreover, he made an allegation against SI Ranjit Debbarma and ASI Rabindra Das as accused. "Both the police officer acted as abettors. They witnessed the whole incident but took no action", said Sinha. Nikunja was assaulted severely to an unconscious state by some miscreants in Khowai on June 1. He succumbed to his injuries. Later police have registered a case and called an probe.
