Constant focus on State’s burning issues needed in Parliament

One good sign we have been noting is that almost all the new MPs elected from Assam are becoming vocal in Parliament (both in the upper and lower Houses) unlike some of their counterparts in the previous Parliament. We congratulate Birendra Prasad Baishya, MP (upper House) for raising the issue of setting up a statue for Asom Ratna Dr Bhapen Hazarika but whether or not the proposed statue of Dr Hazarika can see the light of day, a relentless joint fight of all the MPs of Assam should be on regardless of their party affiliation. Again we note with grave concern about the apathy shown by the Union Road Transport Minister about renovation of the dilapidated National Highways across Assam. When BJP MP from Jorhat Tapan Gogoi raised the question in the Parliament, the reply of the Union Minister was quite evasive. As the entire populace (Barak and Brahmaputra valley) are hard hit by the poor state of the National Highways, we suggest all the Assam MPs to jointly raise the burning issues of the State.
