Consumer body for timely deliverance of gas cylinders

Silchar, May 13: Grahak Suraksha Samiti (GSS) has raised its voice against the delay in the delivery of cylinder gas. Consumers have to wait for 40 to 45 days for getting a refilled gas cylinder. IOC (Indane), when contacted by the members of GSS, could not be reached. Barkhola bottling plant is also not providing with their best of service. On an average, they used to deliver 35 to 40 cylinders. GSS has found out that cylinder gas carrying vehicles are now going to Tripura.

People of this district are facing problems due to the non deliverance of gas cylinders. Gas cylinders are getting distributed under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, but it is not solving the problem of scarcity. The upgrade of Barkhola bottling plant has affected the delivery of gas cylinder. Though delivery of gas from Guwahati was arranged for, yet owing to the massive landslide the vehicles are unable to come. GSS has urged upon IOC, Silchar area office and authorities concerned to look into the matter as early as possible.
