Contractors rue non-payment of bills

FROM OUR Correspondent

ITAGAR, Aug 29: All Aruchal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) has strongly appealed to the State Government, particularly PWD minister to pursue with the Central Government for early clearance of all pending bills of the contractors. Many petty contractors, who have executed works of repairing and maintence, including construction of few culverts, retaining walls, slip clearance, black-topping etc. along the tiol highway in between Itagar and Banderdewa, have been facing fincial hardships due to non-payment of their bills for the last two years, it said. Most of the contractors had invested huge amounts taking loan from private parties on interest considering urgency of the work. “But till date, not a single penny was paid to the contractors,” AACWA rued. The PWD minister should pursue the matter with Centre as these projects are under the control of MoRTH, Govt. of India, the AACWA said.
