Convention in Dibrugarh against Centre's notification

From a Correspondent

Dibrugarh, Nov 5:  Dibrugarh District Unit of Asom Andolan Sangrami Mancha (AASM) has convened a discussion christened as Sangrami  Sathirto Abhivartan (SSA)  on Friday  here at the District Library Auditorium.

The convention, is being organized to protest against the rendra Modi-led BJP government’s recent notification, issued on September 7 this year, that aims to grant citizenship to Bangladeshi Hindu migrants. According to this notification, the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre has been trying to change the existing demography of the State, which AASM considers as a threat to very existence of Assamese society

“The notification itself is a conspiracy to divide the Assamese society on religion basis and is against the core essence and spirit of Assam Accord which was signed among AASU, the Central and State governments,” the organizers claimed in a press statement.

The former Chief Minister of Assam and adviser of AASM, Prafulla Mahanta ; former AGP MP, Kumar Dipak Das ; MLA Utpal Dutta  and  former student leader Atul Koch, along with several other eminent guests and scholars will be attending the discussion. They will  exchange views on how the Modi government has shown its disrespect to the sacrifice of 855 martyrs of the Assam Agitation by issuing such a notification.
