Cooperative society president resigns

GAURISAGAR, August 5: Upen Bharali, president of Jakaichuk Samabai Samiti Parichala Samiti, has stepped down for alleged misappropriation of fund, and non-submission of monthly report.

The allegation brought against him by the members of the society.  In December, 2014 a total of 15 elected members of Indian tiol Congress (INC) Jakaichuk Samabai Samiti was formed. On July 14, a total of 12 members of the society   led by Porag Konwer lodged a written complaint against the society’s President before the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of fund.

The DC ordered the Supply department to conduct an inquiry the matter. As per the order of the DC, the Assistant Registrar of Societies, Sivasagar inquired into the incident and filly proved the complaint brought against the president. On July 26, investigating officer ordered Jakaichuk Samabai Samiti to drop president Upen Bharali and to form a new committee.

Following the resigtion of Bharali, vice president Phaguni Konwer was nomited as the president of the society.
