Council employees to resort to sit-in

Haflong, July 15: The N C Hills Autonomous Council Employees’ Union will stage a sit-in on the footpath wearing black badges from July 17.
 This was among the resolutions taken during the general meeting of N C Hills autonomous Council Employees’ Union held on July 14 which was presided over by the Prsa Hasnu, president of N C Hills autonomous Council Employees’ Union.
 It was resolved that there would be no discussion with the authority until and unless suspension order of the five employees and show cause is withdraw or all employees of the council numbering about 2,200 be suspended immediately. Indefinite strike / cease work / non-cooperation will be continued until demands are fulfilled. 
The Executive Committee meeting held on July 10 under the chairmanship of S. Changsang, CEM i/c, had resolved to place service of five employees and union leaders under suspension without consulting service rule and regulation. The employees’ union resolved that S.Changsan, EM, should be sacked from the executive committee immediately. The union also urged the council authority to abolish the post of P.S (N) and administration of the council be carried out like Karibi Anglong Autonomous Council.  The employees’ union also demanded that all pending salary should be cleared immediately. 
 The union also urged the authority to take necessary step for implementation of permit system of stone under N C Hills Autonomous Council, Dima Hasao for improvement of council normal fund to the tune of at least Rs 20 crore- Rs 25 crore so that the employees receive their salary on time.
