Counter-Insurgency Ops: Indian Army Thwarts Major Terror Attacks Ahead of I-Day, Five Terrorists Gunned Down at Baramulla

Srinagar: In a major crushing encounter by the Security Forces that defeated the morale of insurgents, five terrorists were gunned down at Baramulla.

The special operations started on Wednesday night and started till Thursday morning. During the overnight anti-insurgency operation, One terrorist was gunned down by the security forces on Thursday morning and the rest four were shot Wednesday night.

The Indian Army has been involved in major operations since the start of Independence month of August to avert any infiltration by the Pakistani backed Islamist Terror attack.

It may be mentioned that during the past week on August 4 in the operations, another five terrorists were gunned down by the Indian Army at Kiloora village in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir including a Lashkar operative.

Following that on August 6, the Jammu and Kashmir police managed to arrest a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operative from Anantnag area of Kashmir Valley in another major operation.

Special Forces recovered a huge cache of incriminating material along with plastic explosives, gelatin sticks, and detonators. As per intelligence inputs, the explosives were to used in insurgency operations meant to disrupt Independence Day celebrations in India and carrying out terror strikes in various Indian cities.
