Couple killed in road accident at Gaurisagar

GAURISAGAR: Pranjal Deep Chetia (32) and Himadri Baruah (22), a young couple of Garamur Chariali under Simaluguri Police Station in Sivasagar district, died on the spot in a pathetic road mishap that took place at Charing Ali Kekuri on the outskirts of Gaurisagar on Sunday night. The couple was on the way back home from the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland in their Maruti Celerio (A

S-04M-6558) car. All of a sudden a Jorhat-bound goods carrier truck bearing registration number UP-21-CN-2181 collided head-on with their car on NH-37 near Charing Durlav Chandra Gogoi Jakaichuk HS School. The couple died on the spot. The driver and handyman of the truck fled way before police reached the spot.

The patrolling team of Gaurisagar Police rushed to the spot. Due to heavy fog, police recovered the body of Pranjal Deep Chetia with the help of a recovery van on Monday morning. The bodies were sent to Sivasagar Civil Hospital for postmortem.
