Court extends relief to AAP MLA Jaril Singh

New Delhi, July 9: In a relief to AAP legislator Jaril Singh, the Delhi High Court on Thursday extended his protection from arrest till September 7. Singh had allegedly assaulted a civic body engineer.

After Delhi Police opposed the anticipatory bail plea of Singh, Justice Indermeet Kaur asked police not to give “unnecessary hype” to the issue and treat it as normal matter.

The police told the court that Singh was not cooperating in the probe.

The court was hearing an anticipatory bail plea of Singh, the Tilak gar legislator who is also accused of tearing up official documents and threatening to frame South Delhi Municipal Corporation junior engineer Athar Mustafa in a false case of corruption.

The court on May 6 granted Singh protection from arrest and thereafter extended the protection till May 18. On May 18 the protection was extended till July 9.

The scuffle took place when Mustafa, with his team and policemen, went to bring down an illegal structure in Krish Park Extension area.

The trial court had rejected Singh’s anticipatory bail plea, after which he moved the high court. (IANS)
