GUWAHATI, April 12: The Gauhati High Court on Thursday asked Dispur to create a common data base of declared illegal foreigners and their family members, doubtful voters and their family members and persons who were declared Indians by Foreigners’ Tribuls but whose orders have been challenged in the higher courts and make the data base available in public domain.

The High Court said the common data base will help various agencies including the NRC authority in preventing enrollment of mes of illegal foreigners in the updated NRC and other official documents. The court’s order has come following the recent development that the me of one Ali Ahmed of Morigaon district was enrolled in the partial draft NRC published December 31 midnight in 2017 despite he was declared as an illegal foreigner by the Gauhati High Court.

A division bench of the High Court comprising justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Ajit Borthakur while issuing the order to the State Government said various government departments associated with the issue of illegal foreigners must work in proper coordition so that the incident like Ali Ahmed does not occur in future.
