Create intellectually imbued society: Governor

GUWAHATI, April 10: “The main purpose of education is to produce good, productive and conscientious citizens,” said Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at the closing ceremony of silver jubilee celebrations of Maharishi Vidya Mandir (MVM) Senior Secondary School at Silpukhuri in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital auditorium on Tuesday.

The Governor expressed his happiness and congratulated the entire fraternity of Maharishi Vidya Mandir School, Silpukhuri Guwahati on completion of 25 years. In the span of twenty-five years the school has supported its students by providing them opportunities and challenges that have ebled them to inculcate in them values, commitments and services for manifesting a knowledge-driven society, the Governor added.

The Governor said: “I feel the main purpose of education is to produce good, productive and conscientious citizens”. Referring to Aristotle who once said that a civilized society is one where good people become good citizens, Prof. Mukhi urged the teaching fraternity to use their noble vocation to churn good and conscientious citizens, a press release said.
