Cultivators losing interest in agricultural activities in Kaliabor

From a Correspondent
KALIABOR, September 8: Agriculture in Kaliabor has been passing through very tough times these days.  This season, due to scarcity of rain, cultivation of paddy has already been affected to a great extent. People say that productivity of some of the plants has also significantly decreased. They claim that it happened due to impact of the mobile towers. They also claim that rain decreased in Kaliabor due to impact of the brick-kiln industries rapidly thriving in the area and it affected the soil and environment of the area as a whole. It is not a new thing that in Kaliabor wild elephants and monkeys have been creating havoc year after year to cultivators and all alike. To add fuel to the fire, for the last two-three years animals like squirrels and boars are also posing a mece to cultivators of Kaliabor. The number of these creatures too has increased in recent years to the bewilderment of the people. Kachu, betel-nuts, coconuts, and other fruits and vegetables are being destroyed by these creatures. People are discouraged as their cultivation is being damaged in front of their eyes. They are at a loss as to how to control this mece of wild animals. So, a section of the cultivators are losing interest and have become indifferent to agricultural activities and some have left cultivation once and for all.
