Cycle rally for peace flagged off from Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, May 2: The Sarva Seva Sangh (All India Sarvodaya Mandal) and Gandhi Peace Foundation organized a Shanti Sadbhava Cycle Yatra for peace and harmony from BTC secretariat in Kokrajhar on Saturday covering eight districts of lower Assam.

Around 25 students from Chirang, Kokrajhar, Baksa and Udalguri and workers of the Gandhi Peace Foundation took part in the rally. The peace rally was formally flagged off by Daneswar Goyary, Executive Member (EM) of BTC for Sports and Youth Welfare and Urban Development. The rally will continue till May 4, covering eight districts that include Dhubri, Goalpara, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, lbari and Udalguri starting from Kokrajhar.

Talking to media persons, Chandan Pal, secretary of the Sarva Seva Sangh said that after eruption of violence in Bodo area of Assam in 2012, Gandhians from all over the country reached there for establishing peace and this work had been going on for about three years now. “We aim to spread the message of peace, amity, brotherhood and commul harmony among people,” he said.
