Darrang bids hearty farewell to outgoing Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police

MANGALDAI: Recalling the dedicated, sincere and committed service with integrity of both outgoing Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman and Superintendent of Police Sreejith Thiraviam towardsthe people of Darrang district, more than 30 premier social organizations, leading citizens and women activists offered hearty farewell on Monday to both the officers who were successful in taking the administration and the police to the public.

A farewell function was organized jointly by Mangaldai Media Circle and Youth Club, Mangaldai, a leading socio-cultural organization, at the conference hall of Mangaldai Sanatan Dharma Sabha. Mangaldai Media Circle, Youth Club, Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce, Crystal Vision, Mangaldai Sanatan Dharma Sabha, North Mangaldai Club, Darrang district committee of Sadou Asom Likhika Samaroh and SRD Group of Companies, civic body chairman Pratap Bordoloi, Principal of DIET Madhab Sarma, Principal of Kharupetia College Dr. Budhindra Nath Hazarika and several other organizations offered both the officers a hearty farewell with Bihuwan, letter of citation, mementos and bouquets.

Addressing the function, former vice-president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Idrish Ali recalled the exemplary service of both the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police towards the all-round welfare and development of the district during their short tenure of two years and enthralled the audience with a melodious song. President of Mangaldai Club, Dr. Amarendra Narayan Dev, industrialist and secretary of Mangaldai Sports Association, Anupam Deka and civic body chairman Pratap Bordoloi also spoke on the dynamic leadership of both the officials who made all effort to make the administration and police a transparent one.

In the function anchored by media person Bhargab Kumar Das, the office bearers of Mangaldai Media Circle gifted two valuable books to the outgoing Superintendent of Police.
