Darrang Police Arrests Gang of Thieves

MANGALDAI: A team of Darrang Police busted a gang of mobile phone and laptop thieves and recovered a number of stolen mobile phones and laptops from their possession.

On August 19, a case was registered to vide Dalgaon PS case no 348/18 u/s 457/380 IPC where 48 mobile handsets and one laptop were reported to be stolen from a mobile vendor in Bechimari area of the district. CCTV footage was collected from the shop and also based on analysis and investigation, in the intervening night of September 11, a team headed by Deputy SP (P) Sekhar Roy conducted search in the house of Ekramul Hussain (19), son of Jaynal Abedin of village Gudamghat Mirigaon under Chariduar Police Station in Sonitpur district and apprehended him.

Around 24 mobile handsets, 22 chargers and 15 headphones were recovered from the shop of Jalaluddin Ali alias Jalu (22), son of Rajab Ali of Bhaithyabhanga under Tezpur police station.

Again on being led and shown by accused Jalaluddin Ali, one laptop was recovered from the possession of a juvenile. In this connection, accused Ekramul Hussain(19) and Jalaluddin Alias Jalu (22) have been arrested. The juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Darrang.
