Darrang Press Club celebrates silver jubilee with a day-long programme

MANGALDAI: Paschim Darrang Press Club on Sunday celebrated its silver jubilee with a day-long detailed programme at Sangbad Bhavan-the office of the Press Club at Dipila near the historic Khatara Xatra. Synchronizing with the silver jubilee celebration, the Press Club offered hearty felicitation to all the founder officers of the Press Club, including founder president Mano Ranjan Sarma and founder secretary Sisir Kumar Sarma in recognition of their sincere service to the society through the platform of journalism.

To mark the auspicious beginning of the day-long celebration, president of Paschim Darrang Press Club, Kumar Bharat Kalita unfurled the flag of the Press Club while president of the reception committee, Manik Deka hoisted the flag of the reception committee. The founder president and secretary of Press Club, Mano Ranjan Sarma and Sisir Kumar Sarma lit the earthen lamp in a traditional way followed by smriti tarpan by the adviser of Press Club Jayanta Kakati.

With a view to recall the glorious 25 years of the media organization, a felicitation function and intimate discussion was organized with one of the founder members of the Press Club, Akhil Ranjan Bhatta in the chair. Media persons of repute, Gagan Chandra Nath, Manoj Ali of Sipajhar and Ganesh Dutta of Mangaldai were offered felicitation in the function.

Taking part in the function, media person Bhargab Kumar Das recalled the yeomen’s service rendered by the members of Pacchim Darrang Press Club and also appreciated the spirit of the members for their service despite facing tremendous hardship as at that time telephone service was not available in this area.
