DIMORIA, July 6: To get a proper understanding of the artificial flood that frequently occurs at Jorabat, Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal, who was accompanied by the NHAI officials and the Circle Officer, took stock of the drains along the NH-37 from 9 Mile to Jorabat. He also conducted a meeting on the Kali Mandir premises. In connection with the menace, the DC gathered opinions from the locals attending the meeting.

During the meeting, the locals apprised the DC of the hardships they have been facing over the past 12 years and collectively blamed the negligence and unscientific method adopted by the NHAI officials and the construction company, MBL while improving the road.

Meanwhile, the DC strictly ordered the Circle Officer, Sonapur to clear the illegal structures constructed over the drain. He also directed the project implementation unit of the NHAI to speed up the construction of drains at the area. Notably, certain individuals have been readily occupying the drains along the stretch which has been either reducing the shape or interrupting the smooth flowing of the rain water.
