DD Lapang appointed as national vice president of Nationalist People’s Party

Shillong: In a move that could be considered as a reward, the Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) on Wednesday appointed DD Lapang as the national vice president with immediate effect.

The notification came through a formal letter of appointment by president of the NPP Conrad K Sangma.

Lapang, who is also the former Chief Minister of the State, had left the Congress last year after he claimed that he was sidelined by the AICC leadership. He joined the NPP and was immediately appointed as the chief adviser to the Government of Meghalaya.

The development comes a day after NPP received a major boost with the joining of 15 BJP leaders in Arunachal Pradesh including 2 ministers and 12 sitting legislators.
