SHILLONG: Even as cabinet Minister and BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah constituency, AL Hek has indicated that the party will field its own candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election as the BJP is a National Party. BJP MLA from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai, on the other, has said that the matter concerning the Lok Sabha election will be decided only after party leaders from Delhi visiting the state.

Speaking to this scribe, Shullai said after attending a recent party meeting in New Delhi on January 11, 2019 along with AL Hek and Meghalaya state president Shibun Lyngdoh they were able to discuss the matter concerning MP election with the BJP central leadership.

“In our meeting we have learned that the BJP leaders in Delhi will visit Shillong after the end of Parliament to listen to the views and opinion of the people weather to filed a candidate or not,” he said.

He further informed that after the central party leaders have assess the situation if the party is in a strong position or not to contest the MP polls or give way to the state BJP leaders to decide if they want to support the common candidate which is being discussed by partners with the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government led by NPP.

When asked, if the BJP will come back in power in the centre after the LS polls, he said “Many of the central leaders have assess the present situation and they are confident that the party will once again come back and form the government in Delhi.”
