Decision to dismiss 340 security guards slammed

MARGHERITA, Feb 9: The North East Coal Fields All Security on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Bhaskar Sharma, MLA of 124 LAC Margherita, demanding to cancel the decision to dismiss 340 security guards of NECF Coal India Limited Margherita from April 1.

Dipankar Ghosh, vice-president of North East Coal fields All Security, said that since 1992 private security guards had been protecting the coal mines of NECF Coal India Limited. “Despite threats from terrorist groups and coal thieves, we continue to do our duty with sincerity and honesty but the sudden decision of dismissing 340 security guards is a major blow to our livelihood,” said Ghosh.

Dipankar Ghosh said, “The payment system is poor as we go not get payment on time and many times we have to do all the domestic work of the officers of NECF Coal India Limited. The Sarbanda Sonowal-led BJP government had assured before the election that 26 lakh youth will be given employment, but now after election the BJP-led government in Assam is doing sty politics by dismissing local youths from their jobs. From Friday, we will start our massive agitation programme against NECF Coal India Limited Margherita till the decision of dismissing 340 security guards is cancelled.”
