LAKHIMPUR, July 5: Flash flood has hit a total of 23 revenue villages under three revenue circles in North Lakhimpur subdivision of Lakhimpur district. The fresh wave of flood of Subansiri river has inundated four villages- No. 3 Hindu, No. 1 Mohaijan, No. 2 Mohaijan and No. 4 Hindu under North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle. Similarly, the flood caused by the river affected another three villages - Purani Bahgarah, Bhalukaguri and Bahgarah Pathar under Bihpuria Revenue Circle.

On the other hand, the flood situation has worsened in 16 revenue villages under Nowboicha Revenue Circle, including Balitika, Balijan, Haripur, Konwarpur, No. 2 Naharani, Haribor, No. 2 Solmari, Phukandoalni, Dolohat, No. 1 Kalkhowa, Digh Pukhuri, No 30 FC Grant, Bharaluwa, Solmoria and Haribor Doloni. These villages remain submerged in flood caused by River Singara for the eighth day after the sudden deluge in the river created calamity on June 28.

Flood has affected a total of 89.3 hectares of crop area in the subdivision, 78.03 hectares in Nowboicha and 11 hectares in Bihpuriya, and 25,560 people in Nowboicha. The district administration opened two flood relief camps on Thursday for the severely affected people of the Nowboicha Revenue Circle at Pub Dolohat LP School and Digh Phukhuri LP School with a total of 438 inmates. The administration released 104.82 quintal rice, 19.60 quintal dal and 5.87 quintal salt and 55 packets of Cerelac with other allied items as flood relief. Medical teams have also been deployed.
