ITANAGAR: Following the demand raised by former Minister and Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Takam Pario from 18-Palin Assembly Constituency for repoll to be conducted at the earliest, hundreds of voters of 38-Rakso polling station staged a ‘dharna’ in front of Nirvachan Bhawan.

Alleging capturing of polling booth and stranding of INC polling agent from reaching the polling station, the voters who could not get chance to vote along with their supporters locked the main entrance gate and executed the ‘dharna’ inside the Nirvachan Bhawan.

The protestors alleged that the Nirvachan Bhawan has not recommended and forwarded their genuine demands and report properly to the independent committee set up by the Election Commission of India (ECI) who had recently visited the State to examine the various complaints.

“One Man One Vote’, ‘We want justice and repoll to be conducted at 18-Reibalo and 38-Rakso polling stations,” shouted the protestors.

“Election Observer’s scrutiny report said booth capturing was done at Rakso and Balo polling station but DC Kra-Daadi and Retiring Officer (RO) did not sent the actual report to the Election Commission of India (ECI),” alleged the protestors.

Earlier in a press conference, Pario also demanded suspension of Deputy Commissioner Kra-Daadi for his failure to control law and order and nepotism by not providing actual report during scrutiny.

He also accused the polling officer, sector magistrate and other seniors officer present there for turning a blind eye to the violence which took place at Rakso.

The protestors threatened to take the extreme decision to lock themselves inside the Nirvachan Bhawan if their demand is not met for re-poll at above two mentioned polling stations.
