Demow hosts Asha workers' convention

DEMOW, Dec 29: The Asha workers’ convention was held in the auditorium of Demow College on Monday with a day-long programme.

A general meeting was organized which was presided over by Dr Sahad Ullah, SDM&HO of Sivasagar Sub-division. A one-minute silence was observed in the memory of Asha Supervisor Kakali Buragohain, Niyati Deori, and Indira Hazarika. In the programme ndita Roy Gohain, Demow Circle Officer, was present as chief guest. Dadu Dutta, CDPO of Demow, and Anya Bordoloi, District Media Expert were also present. They lit the ceremonial lamp of the programme.

Around 21 Asha supervisors and 212 Asha workers were present in the convention. The role and responsibilities of Asha workers towards the communities were discussed broadly in the meeting. The programme was organized to encourage the Asha workers to do their duties dedicatedly so that the maximum benefit could be shared among the people living in the remote areas, said Kandarpa Kalita, a member of the organizing committee.

In the meeting short drama based on family planning and health awareness were shown to make people aware.  Ten Asha workers were felicitated in the convention programme for their outstanding performances.
