Silchar, June 5: Following the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the newly formed Leo Club of Silchar Club organized a dental checkup camp and awareness programme on the evil effects of tobacco at 483 Puthikhal LP School recently. The school is situated in the interiors of Natun Bazaar area and does not even have the facility of electricity. A total number of 91 students were examined at the camp. Out of these 91 students, 35 were found with decayed teeth. These students were also given medicines and advised further treatment. The patients were examined by dental surgeons Leo Dr Paramita Paul and Leo Dr Biswadeep Shyam. These two surgeons from Leo Club have been devotedly working towards the service of the people. Dr Shyam has been a part of all the three dental camps which had been organized by the club. The members of the club interacted with the staff, guardians and students and advised them to refrain from such harmful effects.

Later, the club also distributed pencils, rubbers and sharpeners to the students of the school and other children of the locality. The teachers were given an assortment of study charts which comprise alphabet chart, number chart, animal names chart and vegetable chart for making their demonstrations simpler and easier. The school authority along with the guardians of the students highly appreciated their efforts, initiatives and services.
