DGP assures AASU, others  of punishment to culprits

GUWAHATI, June 15: During a threadbare discussion on Friday, Director General of Police (DGP) Kuladhar Saikia assured the AASU and 28 other ethnic organizations of the state that the culprits involved of the lynching of Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath will be awarded exemplary punishment. The DGP informed the student leaders that his men on action have been gathering minutest details of the case and taking necessary measures. He stressed that no loopholes will be left in the law to award stringent punishment. He said that those who were involved in rumour mongering and an ordeal through social media are being also dealt with iron hands, and it will continue. The DGP shared with the team that the police will also initiate measures to do away with superstition and evil practices from society. To maintain peace and tranquility in the state, the DGP also sought cooperation from the AASU and 28 ethnic organizations.

AASU chief advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya and president Dipanka Kumar Nath said that the AASU and 28 ethnic organizations will be convinced if the assurance given by the DGP is materialized. The duo added that the ethnic organizations including the AASU will critically observe further development in connection with the case.
