DHUBRI: Dhubri Lok Jagaran Manch (DLJM) vows to fight for Hindu D-voters, NRC left-outs and people whose cases are pending in Foreigners Tribunal (FT). This was announced in a meeting held at the Kalibari conference hall by the co-ordinator of DLJM, Kalyan Purkayatha on Wednesday.

While addressing the meeting of Hindu D-voters, NRC left-outs and persons whose cases are pending in Foreigners Tribunal, Purkayastha, a veteran RSS activist thundered against the conspiracy to brand Hindus, particularly Bengali, Bihari and Marwari of Rajasthan origin as foreigners and harass them.

“Beside these Hindu communities, even an Assamese woman who married a Bengali man was tagged as D-voter in the electoral roll and she had to run from pillar-to-post to get the D-voter tag removed,” Purkayatha said.

He added, “In Dhubri election district, there are 7516 D-voters, of which most are Hindus in Dhubri, Gauripur and Golokganj assembly constituencies. In a very planned way they are being cornered and squarely harassed by a section of staff of the election office as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy at the behest of vested political interest, which will not be allowed to happen at any cost.”

So on behalf of the Manch, Purkayastha assured people whose names did not appear in the NRC update, who have been tagged as D-voters and whose cases are pending in the Foreigners Tribunal, not to panic as the organization was with the victims and harassed people to ensure their right to live in this country as citizens with honour and dignity.

In his speech, senior advocate and also a veteran RSS activist, Sushil Kumar Das explained the legal aspects and procedures to get rid of D-voter tag and FT cases pending while pointed out as how and what documents were needed to be produced during the hearing at NRC centres.

The meeting was also addressed by RSS Bibhag Pracharak, Birendra Laskar while the programme was modulated by a senior member of Manch, Sushanta Kar. Nearly 400 cases of D-voters, NRC left-outs and FT cases have been registered with Dhubri Lok Jagaran Manch and many more will be registered, a Manch source informed.
