Discussion held to unearth history of Madhav Gohain Than

UDALGURI, May 15: A discussion was held to unearth the glorious history of Madhav Gohain Than under the aegis of Udalguri district committee of Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti.
The meeting was convened by Jayanta Brahma, senior advocate and the organizing secretary of the committee, and presided over by Puspadhar Sarmah, the president of Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Udalguri district committee. Dwijen Bayan explained the purpose of the meeting in which villagers of Madhav Gohain village participated in large numbers.
The Madhav Gohain Than was earlier initiated by an unknown Buddhist monk and later the people started worshipping Lord Shiva as Madhav Gohain. The Itiha Sankalan Samiti has started a campaign to unearth the glorious history of that site. Assamese and Bodo people unitedly worship in the temple. There are some statues made of stone which remind of the past glory of the site.
