Dispur committed to provide quality healthcare: Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika

GUWAHATI, July 14: “The State Government is committed towards providing quality healthcare to the people and ‘Atal Amrit Abhiyan’ has been a major move towards that direction,” said Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika. The Minister said this while inaugurating a one-day Mega Health Camp organized under the aegis of Atal Amrit Abhiyan at Assam Engineering Institute Playground, Guwahati on Saturday.

Attending the free health camp as Chief Guest, the Minister informed the gathering that nearly 1.06 crore people of the State have received health cards under this scheme till now and it is targeted to cover nearly 92% of the total population within the next six months.

He laid emphasis on the fact that the scheme covers about 60 hospitals from all over the country and as a result about 4,600 patients from the State have received quality health care since April last. He also congratulated the Asha workers present in the programme for their commitment and contribution in the health care sector.
The free mega health camp has been organized to register patients for the health cards under the scheme and providing free health check-up under different medical departments. The participating hospitals of the camp include Artemis from Gurgaon; B. M. Birla Heart Research Centre, Peerless Hospital and Ruby General Hospital from Kolkata; and Excel Care Hospitals, GNRC Hospital, Hayat Hospital, and Narayana Super Speciality Hospital from Guwahati.

Notably, the Atal Amrit Abhiyan provides comprehensive coverage and cashless treatment benefits up to Rs. 2 lakh to every individual from BPL and low income households across Assam for the treatment of six commonly prevalent and high cost disease groups which include Cardiovascular diseases, Cancer, Kidney diseases, Neurological conditions, Neonatal diseases and Burns.

The programme was attended by Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Samir Kumar Sinha and Secretary of the department Mukul Gogoi among other dignitaries.
