Dispur set to add 24 more to 121 archeological sites

GUWAHATI, April 3: Dispur is going to add 24 new archeological sites to the existing 121 for their proper upkeep in the State.

This has been revealed from the information given to the Assam Assembly by State Cultural Affairs Minister ba Kumar Doley while replying to a query from AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam on Tuesday.

According to information given by Doley, the Directorate of Archeology, Assam is preserving as many as 121 archeological sites in the State, and now the Directorate has decided to add 24 more such sites to the existing list.

The 24 new sites that have been chosen to be added to the existing 121 such sites are – Lachit Garh at Gorchuk and Mumaikota Garh at Lankeswar in Kamrup(M); Battle Field of Alaboi at Dodora in Kamrup; Jongal Balahu at Raha, Misa Koth at Misa, Samdhara Garh at Samuguri and Pub Moiradhaj Mosque at Dhing in gaon district; No. 1 Rajapukhuri, Rani Pukhuri, Raja Pukhuri at ojan and the Group of Maidams at Charingia in Golaghat district; Juria Maidams at Sadiya, Godha Barbarua Rampart at Borhapjan, Bator Pukhuri, Borpukhuri, Lamtem Pukhuri, Tinkunia Pukhuri, Borgodha Pukhuri, Sarogodha Pukhuri, -Pukhuri, Bengmora Pukhuri, Selukia Pukhuri, Tezomola Pukhuri 1 and Tezimola Pukhuri 2 in Tinsukia district.
